100 Years of Movies in 100 Days – Day 53 – Lolita (1962)
Guys, you know what they say about jailbait. You keep getting older and they stay the same age. And thus we begin a quick overview of Stanley Kubrick‘s Lolita. This movie is just smothered with illicit sin-suality. I freakin’ love Peter Sellers in this movie too.
It’d be easy to say this movie is just a story of a young girl with Daddy issues and a horny European dude that doesn’t understand/believe in the concept of “age of consent.” In the annals of Kubrick movies, I rank this one after Dr. Strangelove, 2001: Space Odyssey, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, and, um, maybe it’d be easier to say that I rank it above Eyes Wide Shut my least favorite Kubrick film. But still, Kubrick’s worst is better than some directors best.
