‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Cast (Finally) Revealed

After months of speculation, we finally know who will star in Star Wars: Episode VII. Early reports that Girls star Adam Driver was a part of the cast ended up being true. Here’s who else is joining Driver and the original cast of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels (C3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Kenny Baker (R2-D2) in the new film.

John Boyega – The British actor broke out in 2011 with Attack the Block. Before he enters the Star Wars universe, Boydega can be seen in a few episodes of the 24 relaunch in May.

Daisy Ridley – Of all the names mentioned in the new crop of actors joining the franchise, Ridley’s is the freshest. She’s had guest roles in various TV shows for the past two years before striking it big with Star Wars. Here’s a show reel to get you up to speed on Ms. Ridley’s performances thus far.

Oscar Isaac – A proven actor on the indie movie scene, Isaac was last seen in the Coen Bros.’ Inside Llewyn Davis, although you’re more likely to have seen him in Sucker Punch, Drive or his guest role in The Bourne Legacy.

Andy Serkis – Do I really need to write an introduction for Serkis? Mr. Mo-Cap has previously been modified in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the first Hobbit movie as Gollum and, this summer will reprise his role as Caesar in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

DomhnallGleeson

Domhnall Gleeson – Gleeson had a breakout hit last year co-starring with Rachel McAdams in the Richard Curtis dramedy About Time, but he’s very familiar with blockbuster movies having played Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise’s final two movies. The Irish actor has also starred in Anna Karenina, Dredd and True Grit among other films.

Max von Sydow – Veteran Swedish actor and two-time Oscar nominee von Sydow rounds out the cast of new faces. You’ve undoubtedly seen him in at least one of his 151 screen credits including Minority Report, Robin Hood, Shutter Island and Rush Hour 3.

Star Wars: Episode VII will arrive in theaters December 18, 2015 and is written and directed by J.J. Abrams.
